Some of Julie’s early work in channel in 1988 where Micciah discusses:
Relationship is the foundation and context of all earthly being. “Your relationship, as you make it in the physical world, has the potential to reflect the relationship of Spirit to you.”
Receiving Spirit: The personality’s capacity to receive Spirit can be expanded through “meditation, reverence, praising.”

Micciah: We greet you all, dear friends.

Julie:  We do greet you, indeed.  This is Micciah Channel, and I’m Julie Winter.  Micciah is an energy entity who works with me while I’m in trance, and while I’m in the trance state I have access to a point of view that seems to come from a non-physical realm.  This series of programs is drawn primarily from videotapes taken during my regular classes.  We want to expand our circle, and include your energy and interest in our work.

What you are going to see is me, with my personality and intelligence, awareness, go into an altered state.  While I’m in that altered state, I join with other energies, or another energy, and produce the personality of Micciah.  And I have, in that state, an awareness that I don’t ordinarily have.  And I’m going to respond to questions that my classes have asked me.

   Micciah: We greet you...
We greet you, and say to you that you are our beloved friends; that you are our beloved friends... and that those of you who engage in this pursuit —  whether you are here in this physical room, or whether you are watching television — you are all creating the possibility of a reality wherein the divine is more and more fully appreciated, acknowledged, desired, in the sense that you do all thirst and hunger for the divine.
And divinity is not only some solemn thing. It is delight, it is questioning, it is chaos, it is success and failure. Divinity can be perceived everywhere, if you look with the right depth of vision, and if you are open in your heart to sense the deepest threads.
And this is not the way for everyone. You know that people will find their path through to what is divine within them, and what is divine in the reflection of the world, in their own ways. This is only one way, out of very many, many ways.
When you speak of manifestation — the movement in consciousness from the world of thought-form and feeling (whether it’s conscious thought or unconscious thought) going into the physical realm — you are speaking about relationship. What is relationship between the forms you create in the inner world and the experiences that come to you in the concrete world? How do these things relate?
And indeed, all of your plane of action rests in relationship. Without relationship there would be no earth realm [long pause] and your relationship to us (we will say us), to this one, to this work, to this kind of teaching, to this spiritual path, makes possible other people’s availing themselves of this particular way or path. if you had no relationship, if no one had any relationship, to this work — if you did not come here and do this  — it would not be manifest. And the relationships that you have with each other (you human beings; you  divine animals), with the earth, all the creatures, the heavens — your relationship, as you make it in the physical world, has the potential to reflect the relationship of Spirit to you.
So you reflect, in your caring for each other and your caring for yourselves, your honoring [of] your own incarnations. That is how you reflect the love of Spirit for you: you reflect it through you, and in you, and as what you do. Everything is built on relationship.
So: when you ask for guidance (through your inner self, or higher self, or the Goddess, or God, or however you conceive of it) and then an idea is born, the entity of an idea — and you cherish that idea in the way that Spirit cherishes you, you nurture it, struggle with it, dance with it — it will be born through you as an experience in this dimension.
Well; so — lets ask all of your questions, and this will become clearer.
Ken: Good afternoon, Micciah. My first question is about receiving Spirit.
   Micciah: Yes.
Ken: We’ve been working on this in class, and I suppose this springs from my own desire to receive more Spirit; so — ahh — being mindful and present in Spirit are hard to bring into a continuum, a consistency —
   Micciah: To make constant.
   Ken: Yes.
   Micciah: Yes.
Ken: How can we receive directly from Spirit? And also, what do we look for when we receive Spirit? I mean, how is it demonstrated —
   Micciah: How is it identified?
   Ken: Yes.
Micciah: [Emphatically] Spirit is — already — absolutely, wholly, and completely present. Right here. Right now.
We know you know this; but you are often taught about Spirit as if it were far away, in some place attainable only through great moral rectitude  — or death. Depending on your religion. (We are teasing a little bit.)
Spirit is here. And as we have said many times, the earth realm is fully enspirited (we will make up a word). This is not some crummy kindergarten where they toss the rejects: “Okay, you — go spend a while on earth, since you can’t do anything better.“ This world — this land, your bodies, everything — is filled with spirit. But!
But: you play peekaboo with it, very much the way that an infant in an early stage of development is so charmed if an adult will play peekaboo, because to them when your face is covered by your hands — when the relationship of your hands to your face is this [Hands in front of face] — the infant really thinks you have disappeared and reappeared, and the infant will laugh with delight.
You are not so different. You play peekaboo with Spirit, allowing yourself to realize a little bit of it, and perhaps even saying, “Yes! Yes! This is it! This is it. I can identify it”; feeling that [Spirit] as a presence —  it’s a real feeling! And then — whiccht! When the circumstance of your outer world changes into ”bad,” or difficult, or when the circumstance of the inner world changes — when there’s an emotional shift in the inner world, and you suddenly feel wretched, sad, tired  Hup! Peekaboo! Spirit is gone.
Well — Spirit hasn’t gone anywhere. You have gone somewhere. Where have you gone? Where are you hiding? Ah... this is a complex question.
You are hiding — this is a model; everything we say is really a model -- you are hiding within the familiar confines of the personality self. When you hide, you are hiding back in your beliefs that say, “Spirit is limited. Life is limited. I am worth only so much.!i can take in only so much.”
You know, in many of the ancient teachings, to have Spirit come upon you full force [emphatically; shouting] would drive you mad. To have the entire reality borne in on you in one fell swoop might shatter the personality in such a way that it could not come back together again. Now we think you have very good safeguards against that; that’s not going to happen. But it would be like running an enormous electrical current through a very small — what is it, a wire? — through an apparatus that did not have the facility to carry that much current.
So: the personality self (to continue with our model) can contain and absorb only a small amount of current. And then that expands as you grow or meditate, as you do whichever kind of work you have chosen to do. The personality self begins to be able to contain more. That is number one.
And also, other elements of the total self begin to gain — power? No ...precedence?...  They start to be acknowledged by the personality self. The personality self begins to know consciously — “Ah! I am not the only one here!” And other aspects of the self — greater aspects of the self than what is formed as the ego personality — come into play; and then sometimes the personality self can step aside a bit. it begins to take on less importance, and greater qualities of the self emerge and are accessible.
And then what we are calling Spirit, which is always there anyway, starts to be sought after and tolerated. More power can come through you, more electricity. [Inhales deeply, to illustrate.] More power can come through you without blowing the circuits out. [Inhales more deeply.] More power can come through you. [Inhales more deeply still.] And so on. And that power, which is never really — ah — it never really passes through the personality directly; it is more like the personality steps aside and then is informed of it. The power is so immense that you take it in small doses.
So you are saying, “Well, how can I increase the amount that I will permit to flow through me?” All of your spiritual practice — meditation, reverence, praising, celebrating life as it is appearing in your world every moment. Because every moment is miraculous. And then you start to grow in your tolerance for letting the power through, and you can do it more often and allow more to come to you.
Now: at a certain point you will face another dilemma. And some of you know what that is.
At a certain point, what you identify as your personality self (again, this is part of a model) will start to lose its importance, and all of those things you thought were so significant — your relationship to those things that you thought were so significant, everything from physical things right through to your body — you start to move the locus of your concern. The balancing point, the center of your concerns, shift [sic]. Your relationship to the greater realities shifts, and the personality self passes through what is like a death. All of those things that you treasured... it is not that they are less valuable; they have their place. But they start to diminish in prominence in terms of your overall perceptions — do you understand? —  and you begin to desire to be of service in some way.
You think of service, in your culture, as nursing. (Not that we are against nursing; it is a most valuable, necessary, and wonderful profession. we will speak of this at some other time.) You have service located — your relationship to service is about that big [makes dime—sized circle with thumb and forefinger]. But you begin to desire a relationship to the world, in your personal world and whatever circles are made around that — bigger and bigger circles. You want, more than anything, to be of service.
And then other things die, and the concerns, the immediate — [sigh] oh... they are not necessarily narcissistic, but they are the concerns of the personality self per se — and those start to dwindle, literally. It’s a big deal. It’s a big change.
So the more consistently you grow, and the more power flows through you, the more you change in your relationship to what you care about. And the more that changes, the more you can tolerate the vastness and the grandeur and the total humbleness — humble quality — of Spirit. It is one reason that very high monks in Zen often peel potatoes. All that stuff about glamor and importance and success... you have to pass through it; you can’t fake not caring about it you see. So you say, “Well, how do you know, then, when Spirit is appearing?” We could say, “Guess.” Because it comes in many disguises. Spirit appears in your life sometimes with a magnificent face of harmony and beauty, and sometimes wrapped — disguised — in a cloak of disease, of suffering.... How do you know? Well, you could assume that everything that shows up —
   Student: — is Spirit.
Micciah: — is Spirit, if you wished to conceive of it that way. And if you feel that something appears... let us say everything is designed to draw you back into the relationship with your... All That Is within you. Everything.
And then, you have discernment. So — are hamburgers against Spirit? No, not necessarily. Does a hamburger serve my body? My body, its relationship to my body? Well — yes or no. if you are a blood type that needs to eat meat, yes. Well then, must animals be bludgeoned to death? No. Well, how can we prevent that? Well, let’s see.
You can start anywhere and work the thread until you find the face of Spirit — sometimes easy to find; sometimes, seemingly, deeply buried. We assure you: Spirit will be served.
Do you have any questions about that?
   [Silence]
We have one more thing to say:
You can take charge. You can evaluate yourself. what seems to serve your spiritual purpose (your relationship with Spirit) and what does not? And you can ask for guidance about it through your dreams, through your meditations. That’s what it means to — you could say — pray over something, meditate about something....
And there really are not very many rules about it, you see. Religions make rules.... [deep sigh] well. That is another subject.

Julie:  That’s the end of this particular segment...  of this particular adventure.  And this channeling is meant to be a spiritual, emotional, intellectual, heartful, mindful journey that I share with another realm, that I share with my classes and that we all share with you.
Please go over the material, evaluate it for yourself, and know what it is that you think about it.  So long.
