Some of Julie’s early work in channel from 1988 where Micciah discusses:
Abundance, generosity, material lack. Spirit is absolutely abundant, but personality limits “abundance” to mean “comfort.” An entity “totally filled with Spirit” may or may not manifest abundance “in the form of things.” A starving child “is a reminder ... of the suffering greed can bring.
Saving and abundance: Rewards of saving depend on the saver’s consciousness. Hoarding out of fear produces more fear. Saving to bless and nurture one’s money, and/or to learn to be “ruthlessly clear,” can be beneficial.
Seed money: A way to “empty out, as a symbol of ... trust in receiving.” Distinct from “giving-to-get,” a form of greed. An antidote to the notion of competition. When the concrete world is seen as “a truth unto itself,” unenspirited, “it can only land you in a belief in loss, fear, and deprivation.”

Micciah: We greet you all, dear friends.

Julie:  We do greet you, indeed.  This is Micciah Channel, and I’m Julie Winter.  Micciah is an energy entity who works with me while I’m in trance, and while I’m in the trance state I have access to a point of view that seems to come from a non-physical realm.  This series of programs is drawn primarily from videotapes taken during my regular classes.  We want to expand our circle, and include your energy and interest in our work.

What you are going to see is me, with my personality and intelligence, awareness, go into an altered state.  While I’m in that altered state, I join with other energies, or another energy, and produce the personality of Micciah.  And I have, in that state, an awareness that I don’t ordinarily have.  And I’m going to respond to questions that my classes have asked me.

   ----------

Micciah:  We greet you all, dear friends.
And we would like to speak, first, about the paradox of generosity and abundance, and how it can be that you can conceive of these and express these and also have a ruthless kind of clarity as a component of compassion.
You have a false belief that the universal source withholds from you, consciously, as if the universal source mirrored the human condition.  Yet we tell you -- absolutely! -- that the source of Spirit ... abounds.  And that the only limitation on that source is that which you put upon it.
Now: here’s the catch.  When the personality aspect of the self hears that information, it translates it into the notion of great comfort, in the concrete, material sense.  As we have said before: at the personality level, comfort has enormous appeal.  It is very alluring.
And it may be that the comfort is the comfort of familiar patterns which reflect denial.  The personality self will move toward comfort.  So -- when you hear that the cosmic source is ever-abundant, you think it means “abundant” as “more stuff.”
But what it means is that Spirit ITSELF is abundant -- that you can have as much of an experience of Spirit as you can contain. The personality self can break apart, and reform, as a larger and larger container or deeper and deeper container, in order to carry within it greater and greater knowledge of Spirit.  And that may or may not translate into concrete manifestation.
If it is the choice of the great self, for its own reasons, to appear in physical manifestation with very little in the way of material appurtenances, still that entity can be totally filled with Spirit.  And it may be on purpose or off purpose for that particular entity to manifest abundance in the form of things.  Are you with this so far?

   Students:  Yes ...

   Micciah:  So far, so good.
When someone comes into the material world and manifests in a form where there is great and evident suffering through material lack -- a baby with its belly swollen from hunger, or abandoned somewhere -- that child is a reminder to you all of the quality of suffering ... that ... [breath] greed can bring.  Not greed on the part of the child: greed on the part of the other participants in a planetary family where it is now possible to feed everyone.  This was not always the case.  (Well -- it was always the case, but in different ways.)
Now ... are we waiting for Spirit to come to that child as a vision?  No.  Spirit can come to that child, however, through your own consciousness of guiding the totality of Spirit into physical form called food and the power to create food in a particular environment, and giving it to the child.  The child has agreed, at a greater level, to represent a particular kind of suffering.
There are many kinds of suffering.  There is suffering, as you know, amidst apparent bounty -- amidst apparent richness.  So Spirit may be guided into a richness of form ... and yes: forms are also abundant, and come and live, are born and crest and die; but it is Spirit of which we speak, and it is through That that you teach yourself about abundance -- not the other way.
You cannot look at your gold -- well, you don’t use gold anymore; your hundred-dollar bills, your -- who is it on the hundred dollars?  Benjamin Franklin? -- your many faces of the portrait of Mr. Franklin, and say, “There is Spirit.  Therefore, because I have this, I am rich in Spirit.”  You are rich in Spirit, and that is the permanent truth; and you may or may not reflect it in the outer world.
And then even amongst the substance in the outer world, you see, it is how you treat it!  It is your relationship to that substance that -- if it is a concrete substance, not a -- not -- we’re not talking about the earth; we’re talking about things you make.  It is your relationship to that substance that ... fills it with Spirit.
If you look at your portraits of Mr. Franklin and say, “This comes to me as Spirit.  I bless it as Spirit.  I use it in the name of Spirit” -- then it is.  Other hundred-dollar bills, which look exactly the same and will buy you just as many groceries, may not be being used in that way.  Do you understand?

   Student:  Mm-hmm.

   Micciah:  All right.

Marian:  Micciah -- we say here that “A penny saved is a penny earned.”  And where does that fit in with the law of abundance?

Micciah:  “A penny saved is a penny earned ...”

Marie:  Is that Mr. Franklin again?

   Marian:  No.

Micciah:  Yes, it is Mr. Franklin again.
Very good question.  What does it mean to save or conserve?  Well, it depends on the consciousness inherent in the person or the people who are doing it.
If Spirit is ever-abundant, then you can call upon Spirit, which never has to be saved -- or earned.  You can call upon Spirit to produce the supply that you need.
If you are holding on to the entity of money because you are in a state of fear about its loss, then a penny saved is a penny saved; “a penny saved” attempts to shore up your anxieties, which of course it will not do because it could be a penny stolen, after all.  Then you get into the protection racket.

   [Laughter]

“Now -- it’s mine!”  And if I do not understand the substance of money to reflect a greater abundance -- that is, the abundance of Spirit -- then I will want to keep it to myself.
So: If the consciousness behind saving is one of fear -- if that is the motivating force, the propulsion, behind it -- then you are acting out of fear and living in an aura of fear; and all that you save will have a quality of fear in it.  Or a desire, which can never be fulfilled through form, to protect you -- against what?  What do you think you are really protecting yourself against?

   [Silence]

What do you think you think you are protecting yourself against?

   Jennifer:  Being homeless.

Micciah:  Hmph -- in the greater sense, perhaps.  No -- dying. You protect the body of money, in your culture, in a way that is related to your fear, your ... dread -- which is changing -- of losing your prize possession....

   [Loud laughter]

No money in the world will stop the process of rising, growing, decaying, and dying -- or the apparent process.
If, however -- to come back to your question, Marian -- if it is important for you, as an entity, at a certain juncture of your journey, to put money aside; to care for it the way you would care for a garden; to bless it, use it well, celebrate it, and have it grow; if you have been compulsive with it, let us say, or -- ah -- not been able for one reason or another to care for it well, then saving it would be of great benefit to you.  Because it would be done in a consciousness of caring; knowing, if you are working with some metaphysical beliefs, that you do that in the name of Spirit. That my task at this point is to learn how to be precise, to be ruthlessly clear: to spend with consciousness.  Because to be -- um -- unconscious about it, to say, “Well!  I will just spend and spend and spend!  Here’s my credit card!” because Spirit is abundant, is to be in a kind of unconsciousness and denial and sometimes a compulsive pattern, which when it starts to correct itself can be represented by caring for the money.
So it really is dependent on where your development lies at a particular moment.
   [Breath; pause]
If you seal it away, out of fear, all you will produce is more fear.  If you care for what you are given, out of love, it will grow -- and you will experience the growth.  It may technically grow even if you are afraid, but you won’t experience it that way; you will go on experiencing the possibility of loss, the threat of loss.
You are always trying to insure yourselves against loss ... can’t lose Spirit.
   Is that clear?

Marian:  Yes -- thank you, Micciah.  Very clear.  Thanks.

   Micciah:  Please -- go on.

Jennifer:  Micciah, there’s another small part of that, and that’s seed money.

   Micciah:  Seed money ...

Student:  Could you look at that in relationship to the other two?

Micciah:  Yes.  When you wish to create something, you say, “I empty out first to make room for the bounty that comes to support my creation.”  So -- are you giving to get?  No; not exactly.  Giving-to-get, in the way that it is generally understood, is a function of manipulation or greed.  So: “I will give you a gift in the hopes that you will give me one back” --

   [Laughter]

-- rather than giving as a way of expressing your belief in the abundance of Spirit.  You yield, you give out, to empty; to make room; and to attest -- to yourself! -- your faith.  And then you know that you will be given back.  It’s not a manipulation [with a laugh] any more than emptying out your breath is a manipulation on the part of the body because it knows when the breath is emptied out ... [deep breath] inhalation will occur, and you will get back more air!

   [Laughter]

It is given in the joy of yielding, emptying out, making big room for the grace and the joy and the creativity and the difficulties all to come in.
So [pause; sharp sigh]: and again, you can start giving ... let us say you have a wonderful project that you wish to initiate in the material world.  You can look around for another wonderful project, and say, “I will give to that.  I will empty out, as a symbol of my ... faith and trust in receiving, and because I wish there to be room.”
And you can begin that, tentatively -- why should you trust it?  Try it out.  Don’t take anything on our say-so.  Try it out.
Your -- your sense of that movement, and your trust in it, will grow as you do it.  You can’t expect to grow ... into this much trust instantaneously, so you can begin like learning a dance step: you start out wobbly.  Try it out.  Try it out.  See what happens.
It also helps you heal from the notion, which is so profoundly embedded in your cultural beliefs, of competition.
When you ask for the material world to flow abundantly as evidence of Spirit, you know you won’t run out.  When you deal with the concrete world as if it were a truth UNTO ITSELF, you know you will have to hoard.  Because the concrete world -- this is important: the concrete world, when it is understood to have power alone, and in and of itself, can only land you in a belief in loss, fear, and deprivation.
It is the same that if you believe this is the only body you are going to get, ever ever, in all of eternity ... then you can only live in fear about your body, and wish to pile up money and goods and whatever you can -- mechanical means to protect it -- because you don’t then see the body as a manifestation of wholly abundant Spirit, which will create you another body.
Not to be cavalier about your bodies.  They are most precious....  You are most precious.
Would you like to ask further?
You see, when you give the seed money ... let’s say you and I are in competition.  We do the same kind of work; we are after the same -- goal, or clientele.  If I wish to live in the flow of the abundance of Spirit itself, I say, “Here, Polly, I will give to you for your wonderful project, because I know Spirit will find its right manifestation through you and also through me.”  So, giving in that consciousness helps to heal the belief in competition, which rests in a belief in the primacy of the concrete world.
